A huge thank you to everyone who donated to and supported the Christmas Craft Fair, held on Saturday 8th December 2012. Almost €2,500 was raised, which was a fantastic result. This could not have been achieved without the generosity of everyone who supported it.
The Craft Fair was very well attended, which was a testament to all the work that had gone on beforehand to publicise the event. Thank you to Jill Blanc for designing the posters and flyers; the design really set the tone for the event. Keith Spendlove donated the large advertising boards, which Joe Doyle erected outside the school and church, and Sam Gallagher organised for the posters to be put up in shops around Naas. Joan Sweeney was in regular contact with local media and Anne French & Serena McCoubrey co-ordinated the flyer drops with the help of many others.
We had 16 external Craft Stalls there…a big thank you to them for taking stalls and supporting us. Janet Fletcher did a fantastic job getting so many stalls – we even had a “standby list” of interested stallholders.
We had 4 fantastic hampers made up from the generous donations from the pupils in each classroom. Ms Whelan did a fantastic job of making up these hampers. Cathy Thewlis & Kirsten O’Byrne were in charge of raffle sales on the day…they did a great job, and a huge number of tickets were sold.
We had a very successful cake stall which was organised by Sam Gallagher & Laura Laheen, with helpers Michelle Condell & Joanne Sandall. Thank you to everyone who donated cakes, breads, etc. – so many great bakers among us!
The Mulled Wine stall was organised by Susan McKeon & Sandra Lawlor. The lovely smell added to the Christmas atmosphere, and it was great to have a hot drink on a cold day!
A very popular stall was the Lucky Dip. Joan Sweeney, Brian McDermott & Ann French were in full swing here, providing plenty of banter. A big thank you to everyone for their generous donations of items for this.
The Teachers of St David’s school co-ordinated and manned the ever popular Book Stall, Face-Painting and Unwanted Gifts. Thank you to the face-painting helpers and the helpers on the book stall.
A big thank you to Santa for taking time out of his busy schedule to pop in and see the children, and providing much excitement.
On the Friday afternoon we started to decorate and set up for the event. Decorations were hung, tables were moved and soon it had taken shape. Jill Blanc co-ordinated the decorations and Paddy Hughes, Joanne Sandall, Anne French, Janet Fletcher, Brian McDermott & Joe Doyle did whatever had to be done. There was also an early start on Saturday morning to put the final touches to the set up before the doors opened at 11:00am.
It was a fantastic day, there was a great attendance and a brilliant atmosphere. Thank you to everyone who came, everyone who donated items and everyone who supported it in whatever form. We got very positive feedback from a number of people, including external stall holders – they said that ours was one of the best craft fairs they had attended this year, and they looked forward to returning next year.
Thank you to Joan Sweeney for all the work that she did and for getting “volunteers” to manage stalls.
A big thank you to Naas Town Council for the free use of the Town Hall. This was very much appreciated.
Thank you to everyone who was involved in the organising. There was a lot more work done than is mentioned above so thank you one and all – you know who you are. It was also great to see so many new volunteers getting involved.
To every parent and pupil that donated to and supported the event in whatever form – A HUGE THANK YOU.
