We are delighted to announce that St. David’s has been awarded its first ever Active School Flag.
This award is a fitting tribute to the commitment of pupils, staff, parents & grandparents, along with many local sports personnel, to providing a wide and varied Physical Education programme for our children over many years.
Well done to the Active School Committee for all their hard work.

Well done to our Team who did very well this year in the Cumann na mBunscol Cross Country Running and thank you to their coach Evelyn McNelis and her helper Paddy Hughes for giving so generously of their time to prepare them for the Competition.
ACTIVE SCHOOL FLAG 2017
What is the Active School Flag?
The Active School Flag is a Department of Education and Skills initiative supported by Healthy Ireland.
The Active School Flag (ASF) is awarded to schools that strive to achieve a physically educated and physically active school community. The process aims to get more schools, more active, more often.
Piper’s Hill College were one of the few schools in the Country to be chosen to host The Women’s World Cup Trophy Tour.
Our 5th & 6th class girls were invited to the event on Wednesday. They participated in a range of wonderful activities and got the opportunity to meet Irish Women’s Rugby Team player Jenny Murphy. Thank you to the Staff and Students of Piper’s Hill College for their hospitality and for looking after the girls so well, they thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Congratulations to the 5-a side soccer teams from 5th and 6th class, who took part in the FAI area finals at Kilcullen Community Centre yesterday.
The boys team won all of their games and are now going through to represent Kildare at the Mid-Leinster competition on April 26th.
The girls team were sadly defeated overall but had a great 2-0 victory in their last game. Well done all!

For more information on Colman’s work please visit Colman’s website
Tea and coffee will be available after.
Congratulations to all the pupils who have been taking part in the KEC Chess League matches over the past few months. Special mention to Dylan Bolger, Max Isom, Charlotte Darby and Julia Cardenas, who represented St. David’s at the League Finals held for Kildare schools at St. Brigid’s NS on the 14th of February. Our team won the semi and quarter finals and went on to compete in the final of the Shield Competition. They lost by a narrow margin here but did themselves and their school proud with their performances. Look out for their picture in the Leinster Leader!
This year was our first year to enter the Kildare Primary Debating Festival. This festival is for both 5th and 6th class. There were six of us on the team, myself (Abigail Bolger), Ryan Duffin, Stephen Crowe, Sarah French, Nadia Abdalla and Max Isom.
Our first debate was ‘Why children should NOT be allowed T.V’s in their bedrooms’. Our next debate was ‘Why climate change CAN’T be stopped’. Unfortunately we lost both of these debates but we put our heart and soul into them and really enjoyed them.
We will hopefully be entering this festival again next year.
