Book Fair
We will be holding a book fair in school from Wednesday 16th November – Wednesday 23rd November.
This is a great opportunity to get some books for Christmas presents and at the same time help your school. We will receive 60% of the value of our sales in commission as free books for the school. The more you buy the more free books the school receives.
Thursday 17th November 1.15 pm – 5.00 pm and 6.00 pm – 8.00 pm
Friday 18th November 2.00 pm – 4.00 pm
Monday 21st November 3.00 pm – 5.00 pm

PTA AGM
The AGM for the PTA will be held in St David’s School on Wednesday 5th October 2016 at 8 pm.
All families are encouraged to attend the AGM and be involved in the plans for the school for this academic year.
The New PTA Committee for the coming year will be elected at this meeting but there will be no pressure to join the committee. Rev Philip Heak and Ms J Sweeney, Principal will be in attendance.

National Poetry Competition
Comhghairdeas le hAbby McDiarmada, as rang a dó, a bhuaigh an chéad áit i gcomórtas filíochta náisiúnta, arna eagrú ag Conradh na Gaeilge le linn seachtaine na Gaeilge i Mí na Márta. B’é Ar Scoil an t-ainm ar a dán.
Congratulations to Abby Mc Dermott, second class who won 1st place in a national poetry competition, organised by Conradh na Gaeilge during Irish week in March. Her poem was called At School.

and Books, CDS, Albums, music books, sheet music, musical instruments, hi-fi equipment and radios etc for their Book/Music Stall

5th Class Art Competition
Pupils from 5th class worked with Miss O’Shea to create artwork for the Naas Art Group’s 1916 Centenary Competition. Well done to all of the pupils, who received certificates of participation from the Committee Chairperson Anne Coleman this week. The submissions were judged in two groups and Ella Hughes & Dylan Bolger have each been awarded a first prize, which was presented to them at the exhibition opening on Wednesday evening (18th May). Isaac Almonte, Rex Dunlop, Abigail Bolger and Jacob Tuohy were also commended for their work. The exhibition is open for viewing at Naas Town Hall from Thursday 19th to Saturday 21st from 10am until 6.30pm, please stop in to have a look if you are passing!

Mural Art
On Tuesday April 19th, the pupils at our school helped to create a beautiful mural in the playground under the careful direction of, Ellen and Russell from ‘Down to Earth’ theatre company. The theme of the mural is Anti-Litter. We have included a sample number of photographs taken on the day. Thank you to Dara Wyer, Environment Awareness Officer from Kildare County Council for nominating our school for this project.

Spelling Bee 2016
Big Congratulations to Ella Hughes (Fifth Class) 2nd row, 3rd from left, who tied for 4th place in the County final of the Easons Spelling Bee Competition. The competition took place recently in Crookstown N.S.
Well done Ella, we are very proud of you representing our school so well.
